Issues
I deployed around the world in the military, been shot in the line of duty as a cop, and as Insurance Commissioner I’ve taken on powerful insurance companies and protected families from fraudsters.
I’m running for re-election to keep putting Georgians first and delivering results.
And while my issues aren’t red meat, they do matter to every Georgian:
Recovering Taxpayer Money:
When I took over, this office wasn’t working for the people of Georgia. We’ve turned that on its head.
My office fields 10,000 complaints from Georgians per year. Through that work, we’ve recovered more than $100 MILLION from insurance companies and sent it back to the pockets of Georgia families.
Holding The Powerful Accountable:
When insurance companies try to take advantage of Georgians, we’re there.
Since 2019, my office has leveled more than $22 million in fines against insurance companies, including the single largest fine in Georgia history at $5 million.
Now, I’m fighting to increase the maximum initial fines allowed.
Lawsuit Reform
For years, an unfair playing field in Georgia’s courtrooms led to higher premiums and costs for Georgia businesses.
We listened, and then we acted, helping deliver real tort reform, lawsuit reform, or whatever you want to call it.
Now, I’m focused on making sure insurance companies follow through on their promise to lower rates.
Georgia Access
We took bold action to pull Georgia out of Obamacare and onto a state-run exchange.
The result has been an increase in providers and record enrollment. When I took office, Georgians had just four providers to choose from in the entire state. Today, there are ten. And in Georgia Access’ first year, 1.3 million Georgians enrolled.
Strengthening Local Partnerships
Did you know the Insurance Commissioner is also the state fire marshall?
In that role, we’ve expanded our local partnerships with law enforcement and first responders across Georgia, and more than tripled the number of arson K-9s deployed across the state.
Holding Fraudsters Accountable
It’s my job to crack down on arsonists and fraudsters who try to scam families and the system.
Since 2019, we’ve arrested more than 500 arsonists and dramatically expanded the number of fraud investigations conducted by my office.
There In Times Of Need
When disaster strikes, we’re there.
Over the last six years, my team has responded to natural disasters throughout Georgia, deploying teams on the ground and setting up claims villages to connect storm victims directly with providers.
My team is there to help families rebuild, and to stop scammers who try to take advantage of disaster.
